Toast Cafe
Best for: breakfast
Price: $
If you read the “A Tea Moment” review, you’ll know I despise self ordering tablets. I was disappointed to find that Toast Cafe has the same set up as A Tea Moment. Not too shocking though because the two establishments are owned by the same people. Unlike my experience at A Tea Moment, I was greeted at Toast and handed a menu.
I came to Toast Cafe on a Tuesday morning-ish, by that I mean I could’ve had breakfast or lunch. Yelp describes the cafe as a Vietnamese eatery as they sell banh mi. Labeling it as such might be misleading because they also sell the milk based Korean shaved ice, bingsu.
In the mood for a sweet breakfast, I ordered the berry bruschetta toast and a vanilla iced latte. The iced latte was $4.50 and the toast was $12. I personally believe cafes that have a wide variety of food choices do not have the best coffee. Every once in a while I am proven wrong and have a really great coffee. That was not the case here as I could not taste the vanilla in the latte. Next time I would opt to bring my own coffee or skip out on one all together.
The berry bruschetta toast was surprisingly amazing. I use surprisingly here because I am usually not a fan of mascarpone cheese but I am now. The cheese is similar to a cream cheese and paired perfectly with the blueberries and strawberries that topped it. Everything was stacked on a thick slice of sourdough bread and drizzled with honey.
Besides the self ordering tablet, Toast Cafe is a great place to get work done and quick service food. I sat outside at tables in the front and enjoyed the nice breeze while sipping on my mediocre coffee. I would someday love to return to Toast to try a banh mi with bingsu shaved ice. Hopefully then they might have an actual ordering service option.
